Construction of social housing: an imperative reason of major public interest according to the Conseil d'Etat

In a judgment of January 29, 2025, the French Conseil d'Etat considers that the construction of social housing constitutes an imperative reason of major public interest within the meaning of article L.411-2 of the Environmental Code and thus makes it possible to authorize projects that would harm the conservation of protected plant or animal species.
